Computer Services Office
General Information
The Computer Services Office ensures that faculty, students, and staff have the information technology systems, tools and infrastructure necessary to carry out the College's Mission. The Office provides the infrastructure that enables members of the FEU-East Asia College Community to make maximum use of the appropriate information technology tools in the learning, teaching, research, outreach, administration, and support activities. It provides the cost-effective information technology resources required to support continuous improvement in the College's ability to fulfill its diverse mission.
The Computer Services Office evaluates emerging information technologies for potential use at FEU-East Asia College. The Office actively re-evaluates existing tools and services in the light of missions of the College.
The Computer Services Office educates the future through the optimal use of information technology resources. Moreover, its goals are also focused on the following:
- Help faculty improve the way education is delivered
- Provide students with resources to enrich their educational knowledge and experience
- Create and sustain an environment that enables leading-edge research and development
- Develop information systems that are necessary for the College’s operation
- Establish the information technology infrastructure necessary to maintain FEU-East Asia College's preeminence in integrating high-quality programs in teaching, system development, and outreach.
Services
IT Infrastructure Development
The Computer Services Office enables information accessibility through the development of necessary IT infrastructures. It evaluates new technologies and recommends its application to the College. It also provides IT-enabled environment for the enhancement of learning and teaching pedagogy.
Academic and Administrative Computing
The Computer Services Office supports academic computing by providing services that aims to improve the learning strategies and the way education is delivered. Moreover, the Computer Services Office provides student with resources to enrich their educational knowledge and experience.
Below are the different services provided by the Computer Services Office:
- Access to Internet-related services (email, Internet access, online services)
- Access to computer and network laboratories
- Access to the FEU – East Asia College Hotspot
- Computer Equipment and Facilities Reservation and Deployment
- Computer Systems Maintenance
- Network Systems Maintenance
- Consultancy Services
Management Information Systems
The MIS unit of the Computer Services Office exists as a developer/manager of efficient and cost-effective information and communications technology solutions and services. It also exists as a catalyst of change and innovation to all FEU – East Asia College stakeholders.
The MIS unit provides:
- Customer Focus Service Delivery
The MIS unit caters to the different needs of its stakeholders, namely, the students, the Associates, the Industry Partners, the Alumni and the various guests. With this, it is imperative that MIS must continue to better understand its stakeholders. The responsibility of the MIS unit is to ensure the College’s information computing is done well, securely, timely and conforms to the needs of the various stakeholders.
- Development of Intergrated Information Systems
As a commitment of the MIS unit to the community to develop, maintain and manage integrated information systems, the MIS unit must partner with the stakeholders in the implementation and deployment of these information systems. Moreover, system documentations will be made the basis of all the requirements needed from the system, signed and agreed-upon by both the clients and the system developers.
