FEU - EAC Student Selected as one of TOSP - NCR
July 14, 2009
Since 1961, the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) program has recognized the outstanding youth of the nation for academic excellence, exemplary leadership, community involvement and good moral values. The TOSP program is a project of the RFM Foundation headed by its Chairman, Mr. Jose Concepcion, in cooperation with the Commission on Higher Education, the Rotary Club of Makati Central, the National Bookstore, and the RFM Group of Companies.

For this year, John Paul H. Sibug, one of FEU-EAC`s BS Computer Science graduating students, was chosen as one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines – National Capital Region during its awarding ceremony held on April 27, 2009 at the PLDT Innolab Building, Dansalan, Mandaluyong City. We are indeed proud that for first time, one of our students was selected as a recipient of such prestigious TOSP award.
Mr. Sibug has been consistently one of the top performing students at FEU – East Asia College. While still a student, Mr. Sibug held different positions, such as being the President (the latest), in the Computer Society. Mr. Sibug also served as one of Microsoft Philippines Student Ambassadors. He visited different Colleges and Universities nationwide to promote, educate and train faculty members and students on the use of technology. He was recognized by Microsoft as the top performer among all the Microsoft Philippines Student Ambassadors.
Mr. Sibug is also an active member of the Junior Philippine Computer Society (JPCS) and he has been with the organization for three years since 2007. He is an officer of JPCS holding different positions such as National Director for Information and Communications, National Vice President and National President. Through his active involvement in this organization, FEU – EAC was recognized as one of the Legion of Masters for 2008 and was awarded the Best Outreach Program for the College`s Spiritual IT project during the 2008 JPCS Awards Night held on March 29, 2008.
Furthermore, his exemplary work in promoting Information Technology and active involvement in various community activities proved to be among the reasons why he was chosen as a Philippine delegate in the 14th ASEAN Seminar onUsage of ICT to Promote ASEAN Spirit in Bangkok, Thailand.
Mr. Sibug‘s commendable performance, as well as his inclusion in this year`s TOSP – NCR, is a culmination of his unwavering service and dedication as a student and as an advocate on the use of technology. Even at his young age, there is no doubt that with his remarkable contributions to the society, Mr. John Paul H. Sibug will have a promising career in the IT industry as he continue to shine as one of the best graduates of FEU - East Asia College.
