Student Leaders Join PAASA Convention 2010
March 10, 2010
Over two hundred student leaders coming from different colleges and universities all over the country, five from FEU – East Asia College, actively participated in the Philippines Association of Administrators of Student Affairs (PAASA) Convention on February 14 – 16, 2010 at Venus Parkview Hotel, Baguio City.
Headed by Henry G. Magat, SACSO Director, and Marlon O. Maglipas, SADU Coordinator, the five students, namely: Bernard Bonin Cagadas, Chad Ivan Suaiso, Jinky Arlene Lapuz, Rae Arriola, and Jonard Bryan Dela Cruz took part in different activities and forums during the event.
With the theme, “Weaving Patriotic Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship among Filipino Youth Leaders”, the event challenged current and future student leaders of the country. The conference encouraged the youth to be actively involved in our nation’s development by giving value to the country’s history and culture. Speakers emphasized the value of nationalism and patriotism among the youth of today.
According to the speakers, development can be achieved if there is unity, morale among Filipinos, compassion to help the unfortunate people, positive attitude, and above all, God-fearing leaders. Leadership should always be in accordance with the Divine Guidance, according to the speaker.
The message intensifies the youth’s mindset about leadership, national awareness, and student development. The conference also taught the students to share whatever they can and want to share. This activity had opened an opportunity to prove that iTamarraws can be national leaders of the country.
