iTamaraw Retains Crown

March 10, 2010

For the second consecutive year, FEU – East Asia College has proven that it is the leading athletic group of the university as it once again grabbed the Over-All Champion title in the recently concluded 2009-2010 FEU – Athletics League.

Underscoring their worth as the best men’s squad in the university, FEU – EAC volleyball blocked the chance of Institute of Accounting, Banking, and Finance (IABF) in defending its title as the iTams swept the IABF during the semis.

After easily losing the first set, iTams found their second wind in the next three frames, fighting back from an early eight-point hole to complete the 25-15 4th set victory over the talented Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS) players, who entered the finals as the favorite after posting a 5-0 record in the elimination round.

Isiah Balanquit, playing his last year for the iTams, spearheaded the team, while this year’s MVP, Jimmy Dimatulac and sophomore Dadly Wyne Encarnacion contributed remarkable points during the finals.

On the other hand, iTams’ basketball squad, led by team captain Julius Aguilar, kept the 1st runner-up title after losing to IABF in the jam-packed R. Papa Gym. Badminton girl’s doubles smashed other teams after demonstrating their agility on the crucial championship game against Institute of Nursing (IN).

iTams also dominated the Chess and Table Tennis events after topping almost all the divisions. Powered by excellent opening moves, the iTam Chess team was able to surmount the defensive pieces of the opponent during the championship battle. Meanwhile, the superb gripping ability and prudent maneuver of the Table Tennis group made it the best team of the event.

FEU – EAC’s Cheering Squad also exhibited its dancing skills as it joined the Cheering Competition which opened the Awarding Ceremony of the season last February 26, 2010.
