Proving true to FEU-East Asia College’s vision of being the premier technology educational institution in the Philippines, ECE students bagged the 1st Place Award in the recent ECE Quiz Bees.
On September 16-18, 2010, Eliza Marie F. Carlos, Alexis A. Hilario, and Jonathan R. Javier emerged winner on the ECE and Beyond 2010: Shattering Inhibition Quiz Bee. This is a three-day convention and competition held annually at the De La Salle University – Manila. The first day of the convention included seminars and talks on ECE which culminated with the elimination round of the competition – a written examination that is similar to board exams. Sixty groups from 20 schools competed but only 16 made it to the second round. The second round consisted of eight stations wherein each team needed to accomplish a task first before proceeding to problem solving. Each team was faced with one team to beat where FEU-EAC ECE team defeated a team from New Era University. The third round was a buzzer-type competition among the eight teams that made it to the final round. With a landslide score of 6, 900 points, our very own ECE students brought home the championship award.
Just weeks after their triumph over other ECE students from other schools, Alexis A. Hilario and Eliza Marie F. Carlos, now joined by Harry U. Chua, Benjamin Vincent N. Occeñola, John Kenneth D. Miano and Luigi M. de Jesus reigned over the other schools as they got 1st place for the Quiz Bowl 2010: Shattering Inhibitions. This was held on September 29, 2010 at the Lyceum of the Philippines in Intramuros, Manila. These ECE students defeated other students groups from prominent universities around NCR, making them the representatives for the national level to be held on December 7-9, 2010. A sudden death question made these iTamaraws’ victory possible as they came neck and neck with TIP Manila in the final round.
With the efforts and trainings of their mentor, Engr. Joshua B. Ancheta, these ECE students were able to dominate these ECE Quiz Competitions. Undoubtedly, these iTamaraws are a proof to FEU-East Asia College’s commitment of providing quality education to its students.
