Step Up Dance Contest Shows Off Again

November 10, 2010

While FEU - East Asia College is committed to the academic excellence of students, it is also dedicated to the development and presentation of their skills and talents. With this, the Admissions and External Relations Office (AERO) once again gathered selected high school students from all over NCR to showcase their talents and dancing flairs in one dancing event – Step Up Dance Showdown Year 2.

On its second year, Step Up invited 14 secondary schools. Student competitors of each school awed and amazed the judges with the five-minute display of their dancing prowess oozing with school spirit in their mixed tracks of choice during the Elimination Round on October 27, 2010 at the 9F Mini Auditorium, Technology Building. The schools that competed for the title were: Sto. Niño de Novaliches School, Balingasa High School, Church of God’s Miracles Christian Academy, Starland International School, Jose Rizal University, St. Francis de Assisi, St. Mary’s College of Meycauayan, Quezon City Science High School, St. Monique College of Manila, New Era High School, PAREF Northfield School for Boys, Bloomfield Academy of Makati, Bloomfield Academy Las Piñas, and Our Lady of Perpetual Succor College.

The top three finalists’ dancing flairs were further tested as they made their impromptu interpretation of the three most popular tracks today. Students did their utmost efforts to impress the judges as they displayed their every move and dancing style within the one-minute period. Each group showed a fierce yet passionate performance which made the judges’ task more challenging.

Aside from the exciting performances by the contenders, the audience was also entertained by the special numbers rendered by the Exude and Music Synergy. The exhibition done by Exude members set the stage on fire as they showed the audience what dancing really is. Music Synergy, on the other hand, added spice to the competition while they sing the hottest love songs of all time.

At the end of the day, Our Lady of Perpetual Succor College emerged and was declared Champion, while New Era High School and Jose Rizal University landed 1st and 2nd Runner Up respectively.

More than the prizes that the College offered, it was the fun and experience that really mattered. The character and skill exposure brought by the students’ participation in Step Up will surely be irreplaceable.
