ANTOK PA ‘KO awakens 4th Philippine National ICPC

December 21, 2010

With IT being one of the most popular courses in the country, numerous colleges and universities emerged at present which offer the same program. However, FEU - East Asia College once again proved its excellence in this field when it won 2nd place in school rankings and 5th in team rankings in the 4th Philippine National Inter-Collegiate Programming Competition (ICPC) held on November 20, 2010 at Ateneo De Naga University, Naga City.

The competition, which aimed to increase public’s awareness of the importance of IT in the development of our country and our society, lasted for one day. Twenty-nine teams from different schools all over the Philippines participated in the said event. Most schools were represented with multiple teams while FEU - East Asia College chose to send only one team. Equipped with intelligence and humor, the team composed of Johanna Mae Distor, Clive Karsten Lim, and Jesu Petar Maglutac, with Mr. Enrique Metra as their coach, named themselves “Antok Pa ‘Ko” which came from the mixture of their feelings of excitement, nervousness and, as obvious, sleepiness.

Teams were given ten questions to answer in the fastest time. It was not an easy fight since their biggest contenders were the teams from the University of the Philippines which planned to sweep the first five ranks. Unfortunately for them, “Antok Pa ‘Ko” was certainly the team that ruined their aspirations when it defeated the fifth team from UP, snatching a place which made it to rank number five. Besides the team rank that the team members got, they also brought honor to the College when they made FEU - East Asia College rank number two in school rankings.

Truly, the College molds its students to be competitive enough to excel in their own field of specialization. This is another testimony of its commitment to excellence.
