A Night of Gold, Silver and Glitz

December 17, 2010

FEU – East Asia College associates got into the groove as they celebrated their themed Christmas Party, tagging this year’s event “That ‘70s Show” on December 8, 2010 at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel, Rizal Avenue, Manila. Nearly 260 associates enjoyed a scrumptious three-course dinner and comfortably settled to enjoy excellent entertainment from unexpected “artists” and home grown talents of FEU – East Asia College. Flares, disco go-go boots, shiny mini dresses and afro wigs swarmed the four walls of the hall – all evoked the ‘70s disco era. Undoubtedly, it was a night of incredible fashion and music. A mirror ball might have been missed but the entire stage backdrop proved to be a classic disco wall with all the shimmers and glam.

For this year’s Christmas Party, the Human Resources Office came up with a competition showcasing ‘70s entertainment. All departments prepared a presentation in line with this year’s theme and allowed the audience to travel back to the ‘70s. This gave them the chance to strut their stuff on the dance floor and paint their picture of a totally retro Christmas. The CSO and MIS Office topped the competition with their superb renditions of the Hot Legs, Fame, My Sharona, Bohemian Rhapsody, etc. Who would have thought that the all-male group of Technical Support Specialists would dress-up like little cherubs sporting all white garments, complete with the skirt and white stockings. The HSC Department came in as the 1st runner-up, while the ITE Department as the 2nd. All of the seven performances including those from the EEE and CE, SACSO, MPS, the AO/RO/IALAP/TO and AERO were ultimately ‘70s. Surely, it was a shining moment; a night of so many revelations.

That’s not all. The event was not only packed with pure entertainment. A lot of raffle prizes also poured in. Close to 90 winners of raffle took home cash prizes and special raffle items. It couldn’t have been more fun had it not been for the comic hosting of Mr. Ramir Ramirez and Mr. Joff Bombasi of the ITE Department. Full of energy, full of fun, they certainly pulled it off.

It almost goes without saying that everything was just so funky! Christmas in the ‘70s was totally sparkly and glittery!
