iTams Elect New Set of SCC Officers

In pursuant to the Student Coordinating Council’s (SCC) vision of protecting the students’ rights, empowerment and holistic development, FEU East Asia decided its new set of leaders through its third election on March 17-19, 2011.

Two parties – the Students for Innovative and Active Governance (SINAG) and the Well-respected And Promising And Knowledgeable Leaders (WAPAK) – and two independent candidates vied for the political office and campaigned throughout the College for a week. The candidates displayed their platforms for the College through the Meeting de Avance held on March 16, 2011. Despite the differences on the projects and propositions, all candidates share the same objective of promoting the holistic well-being of the iTamaraws.

The election system provided by MIS proved that FEU East Asia is indeed a technology school. Although the election held every year is computerized, this is the first time that the College used a party system election. Moreover, apart from the fast system which only took two minutes for the students to vote, the results were also declared final one hour after the voting period.

The Annual SCC Planning and Turnover Ceremony was conducted a week after the new set of leaders was announced. The activity on March 25-26, 2011 was participated by the incoming and outgoing SCC officers. It successfully strengthened the ties of the newly formed council. It also helped them prepare for their specific roles/functions as SCC officers.
