FEU-EAC teams with IBM for SEYP Program

June 12, 2011

To prepare its students in facing the language demands of the industry, FEU - East Asia College teamed up with the premier BPO company in the country, IBM, in a program entitled Spoken English for Young Professionals (SEYP). Held on May 16-20, 2011, this weeklong program was conducted to train the trainers on the effective delivery of SEYP program to students.

Fifty fulltime faculty members from HSC, MPS, ITE, EEE, CpE, and CE participated in the program. This collaboration involved training of the selected faculty members at a teach-the-trainers certification class. They will, in turn, cascade their learning to other Associates and integrate the SEYP program into the English courses using a learner-centered approach or task-based teaching. The integration of IBM inputs in the College’s educational programs and curricula will help improve its graduates’ English communication skills in their future involvement in the industry, as well as for their business and personal endeavors.

The program culminated with a graduation ceremony where qualified faculty members were presented with IBM certification. The ceremony was initiated by the two IBM trainers, Ms. Kristina Malaya R. De Mesa and Mr. Erich Josef M. Ting, together with HR Director Jacklyn Anne C. Mantolino and Senior Director for Academic Affairs Dr. May Rose C. Imperial.
