In the Name of Volunteerism

Aside from making a name in providing quality education, FEU - East Asia College is now creating another mark in the society by reaching out to the underprivileged through outreach activities. The College, through the initiatives of Community Extension Service Unit (CESU) and the Computer Engineering Department (CpE), conducted PC Troubleshooting Sessions for seven Tuesdays – from January 29 to March 12, 2011 – to students and out-of-school youths.

Headed by CpE Director Elie Rose Francisco, the team composed of Maribel Misola, Jammy Jamasali, Honeylet Grimaldo, Dennis Ordovez, Rolito Mahaguay, Gerwin Villanueva, Niño Pilueta, Niño Merencilla, and Moises Jardiniano conducted the program. Despite the hectic schedule and the volume of tasks that needed to be accomplished, the CpE Department made a full attack to the activity as almost all the faculty members joined and shared their gift of self and expertise. The CpEO members also lend their hands and assisted the participants with patience and a smile.

Twenty beneficiaries participated in the program – six Fourth Year High School students from C.M. Recto High School and fourteen out-of-school youths from the Kapatiran Kaunlaran Foundation, Inc. The activity was a success as the team used effective teaching strategies. Apart from the lectures and discussions, there were also group hands-on exercises and demonstrations and written examinations. The activity was culminated with a graduation program for fourteen participants who successfully completed the training that was mainly focused on PC Troubleshooting.

Infected by the virus of service that FEU-EAC is starting to spread, the CpE Department has proven the College’s commitment to the betterment of the society.
