iTamaraws Shed Renewable-Energized Light at the NREP Launch with P-Noy

July 06, 2011

“Be involved!”

That was His Excellency, Pres. Benigno Aquino III’s appeal to the public on June 14, 2011 at the launch of National Renewable Energy Program. Held at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel, the launch which featured one of the country’s cornerstones of energy policies gathered the biggest attendance of advocates and stakeholders in support of a clean, reliable, and affordable energy.

Supporting the advocacy, iTamaraws demonstrated their share in the program as a group of Electrical Engineering students, composed of Aldrin Ernie de Pano, Dawn Jobelle Estrada, James Albert Lam, Sven Wilbur Lim and Jelly Meana under the mentoring of Engr. Ronald Pascual, presented their Solar-Powered Streetlight with Time-based and Solar-based Tracker System. This innovation, which aims to replace the most commonly used streetlight with an alternative that uses renewable energy, caught the attention of P-Noy himself after recognizing it as the students’ move to deal with the present problems on high electricity costs and the looming environmental crises.

Over 700 stakeholders attended the launch and FEU – East Asia College is proud to be one of the five universities invited as exhibitor. Led by Executive Director Benson Tan, our FEU-EAC group was composed of Senior Director May Rose Imperial, Engr. Joshua Ancheta and AERO Associate Sheena Mae Soliven.

The Solar-Powered Streetlight not only shed light on the NREP Launch but illuminated further on FEU-EAC’s commitment of yielding competent professionals that will contribute for the betterment of the society.
