"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

– Sir Arthur Clarke (British Science Fiction author)

For 19 years now, FEU – East Asia College has been showcasing the magic of technology as it continues to be an institution promoting excellence in the field of Engineering and Computer Studies. This magic was once again demonstrated as it celebrated its College Week from October 17-21, 2011.

With the theme XIX: Beyond Imagination, the whole FEU – East Asia College was brimmed with activities filled with magic, glamour, prestige and glory. Almost all the Recognized Student Organizations had their share in the College Week through the competitions that they hosted. Among these are iDare You: The Best Challenge of 2011 by HSS, 2nd General Engineering Competition by JPICE, Robowiz by CpEO, Fierce Factor by IESS, CISCO Net Riders by CSNC, SquEEEze Your Mind by ECESS, EEzoom by EESA, The Mastermind by MSO, ITEO Cup Year 2 by JPCS and Vector Design and 3D Effects Competition by WebIT. Also, for the very first time, the English Guild conducted the 1st Debate Competition which was even visited by FEU President Lydia Echauz.

High school students also took part in the College Week through the competitions such as the Art-TECH-tistry: The Rise of Digital Arts and the 3rd Campus Step Up Dance Competition designed for them by the Admissions and External Relations Office. They also showed their investigative minds through the 1st Investigatory Physics Project presented by PhySo.

The College’s community partners also benefitted from the affair as SACSO-CESU conducted the Annual Social Forum entitled “Trees for Life: Where are our Forests?” presented by guest speaker Roda B. Valenzuela, Technical Specialist of Bukidnon Resource Management Foundation, Inc. The forum was a prelude to the Tree Planting activity held at Tanay, Rizal on October 22, the last day of the College Week. The community partners also had the chance to present their products to the FEU-EAC community through the booths that were set up at the Main Lobby.

The week was even highlighted through the major activities that graced it. The “A Pair to Remember: Associates & Students Unite” of the Artist Connection has been a revelation as the associates went back to back with the students in showcasing their talents. The FEU Auditorium roared as the College’s most favorite teaching and non-teaching associates grooved and belted with the students. Also, Mr. and Ms. ECE grabbed the crown as Mr. and Ms. FEU – East Asia College after they displayed their beauty and brains to the iTamaraws. As a culmination, the College presented its most anticipated Variety Show entitled “A Magical Night”. With the combined efforts of the College Week Committee, Artist Connection, and Student Coordinating Council, the show displayed magical production numbers that had the audience jumping off their seat. The show was even made special by the witty and engaging hosting of Comedy Bar veterans Sweet Iyah, Super Teklah and Donita Nose, with the special participation of Regine Velasquez look-and-sing-alike Anton Diva who sang and danced with the iTamaraws.

Top Industry Partners made the College Week possible as they contributed to the success of the event. Among these are Accenture, SMART Telecommunications and STANFORD IT Learning. Other IPs which participated are SPI Global, SYKES, Jobs DB, UCPB and ePerformax.
